WHAT’S ON - OCTOBER 2024

🎉CONGRATULATIONS🎉

We are super proud to announce the successful gradings for three of our dedicated junior students. Two students graded to Shodan Ho and another to Shodan, we also had assistance from an advanced junior student for partner work. All four students put forward a wonderful effort. Their resilience, dedication and spirit shone through, well done! Congratulations, we are very proud of you all and it’s awesome to see your hard work pay off! 🥋🖤

GOJU SEISHIN GRADING SYSTEM -

We often get questions from students about belt colours and gradings. Below gives an illustration of how our karate grading looks leading up to a full Black belt (Dan level) and continuing in the Dan rankings up to 4th Dan.

When sewing stripes on belts, they should be placed - one on each side for each grading level. Example above - 9th kyu = 1 green strip one each side, then 7th kyu add the second green strip on each side. The first stripes should be sewn on approx 5cm from the end of the belt .

DEMONSTRATION DAY 2024

Please set aside SATURDAY 16th NOVEMBER 10:00am to 12:00pm, to come along and join us at our annual demo day showcasing the awesome skills our students have been learning. This event is free to all students and their family and friends. We will send out a booking link shortly so we can accommodate numbers and have sufficient supplies for the BBQ lunch after.

THURSDAY TAI CHI

We are happy to announce that we have secured the bigger room at the Sunbury Community Centre (where Sunbury Neighbourhood House is) for term 4 on a Thursday morning. Class starts at 11:00am, look forward to seeing you there 😁 If Thursday does not suit, we have plenty of other tai chi classes to try - click here for timetable

OCTOBER - DATES TO REMEMBER

1:00pm to 2:00pm. Juniors (9+) and adults welcome. Sunbury West PS

EXTENDED ADULT SESSION - OCTOBER 25th

11:00am to 1:00pm, Sunbury West PS - all adult students welcome

MELBOURNE CUP WEEKEND -

Our normal Saturday classes held on November 2nd as usual - Kids at 9:00am, Juniors at 10:00am and Adults at 11:00am.

No classes will be held on Monday the 4th November or Tuesday 5th November. All students who usually attend these dojo’s are most welcome to join us in any other karate of tai chi class through the week.

What’s happening at Circles of Willow?

We hope you have all enjoyed school holidays. Women’s circles shall recommence on 23/10/2024 until 11/12/2024 and our neurodiverse physiotherapy service from 26/10/2024 to 14/12/2024.

I am looking forward to immersing myself in a different culture and gathering inspiration to be used in the process of both circle creation and physiotherapy programs.

As a health care provider for the past 44 years, I understand the need to take a break. Physiotherapy requires physical strength, mental rigor and an empathic ability to connect with clients for the best outcomes. Working with neurodiverse children and families has been hugely rewarding. It is wonderful to see the children settle and progress. PRIVATE LESSONS

Available to karate and tai chi students, children and adults, these 30 minute or 1 hour sessions are held on Friday evening or Saturday afternoon. The benefit of private lessons is that you receive tuition that is specifically tailored to you. The individual tuition ensures a rapid uptake of basic to advanced skills that can then be practiced and developed in class.
