DEMONSTRATION DAY 2024 🎉

Thank you to all who attended our Demonstration Day on Saturday 16th November 🎉😁

The day was a great success and all students who attended provide wonderful demonstrations of their skills.

Special thanks to Anita for providing morning tea and cakes. Anita raised over $200 to be donated to the Cancer Council. Special thanks also to Marcus and Sam for cooking all the sausages to perfection.

WEAPONRY

THIS SATURDAY, 7th DECEMBER

Sunbury West Primary School, 1-2 pm Casual clothes and comfortable footwear to be worn. For junior ages and above (9+)

All students are welcome, no experience needed. The cost is one pre-paid lesson. Please let Bree know if you’re coming to help in class planning. EMAIL BREE HERE

💥IMPORTANT CLASS ANNOUNCEMENT💥

On Thursday 12th December there will be no karate classes at Killara Primary School due to a school event. We encourage our Killara students to join us at another suitable class during the week. Prepaid lessons are valid for any suitable class.

KARATE STANCES

Over the past few weeks in all our karate classes we have been encouraging students to learn the Japanese names of our stances, if you would like to play a little game and test someone out, see if they can name any of these stances - bonus points for the Japanese name! (answers are at the bottom of this email!) the intersection of the cross indicates where the head should be relative to the feet. The more advanced the student the more stances they should know 😉

What’s happening in Circles of Willow

Our Women’s Circles have concluded for this year. We celebrated with a wonderful banquet and reflected on what had been a difficult year for many taking the jewels of growth forward. We plan to continue our commitment to women’s wellbeing and mental health support in 2025, beginning in term 1.

I have retired from my role as a physiotherapist after 43 years of giving service. It has been the pinnacle of my career working with neurodiverse children and their parents. Personally, and professionally I have grown. To those who chose our service, thank you. It’s wonderful helping to unwrap the gifts of neurodiversity.

To all who read this, Wishing you a blessed festive season. May 2025 unfold gracefully and joyously for us all.

WBMA ONLINE TRAINING PORTAL

All our members have access to the online learning portal via our website as part of their annual membership. This is a great tool in assisting training at home for all levels of karate or tai chi. If you have not received your password, or having trouble logging in, please contact Geoff.

PRIVATE TUITION

Private lessons are a great way to build confidence and refine skills at any level. We have availability on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons for a 30 minute private lesson. Please email Bree here or call 0419364320 for more information and bookings.

KARATE - Last class for term 4, TUESDAY 17th DECEMBER - Classes are on at Kismet Park and Sunbury West Primary schools that afternoon/evening.

TAI CHI - Last class for term 4, Wednesday 18th DECEMBER - 9:30am at Gisborne community Hall.

2025 classes resume Tuesday January 28th 🎉

Hanzenkutsu dachi 2. Zenkutsu dachi (long stance) 3. Kosa Dachi 4. Kiba dachi 5. Sanchin dachi 6. Seisan dachi 7. Neko ashi dachi (cat stance) 8. Shiko dachi (horse stance)

Just an FYI ‘dachi’ means stance 😁
